Exercise daily Blog - Day 13

Well this is the first day that I have officially skipped on the exercise. I have had a pain in my right side for the past 2 days and I thought that it might be a pulled muscle. I skipped the gym this morning to see if that would help any. The pain is still there so I gave in and went to see the Dr. They did some blood work and I should know more tomorrow morning. They think it is either a pulled muscle or maybe gall stones... I am praying that it is a pulled muscle! I will update once I know more.

Exercise daily Blog - Day 12

Well I skipped a few days again. I have still kept on track with the exercise though. Yesterday was a gym day and today was a running day. Cajun and I ran a bit over 2 miles today :) We are getting there! We will be up to a 5K in no time.

Exercise daily Blog - Day 9

I got my run on :) Jogged about 1.8 miles maybe a bit further. It was much better weather today and not as humid! The humidity makes it hard to breathe. Things are still going well and tomorrow will be day 10 of my daily blog. Looks like I made it to the double digits...LOL

Exercise daily Blog - Day 8

Had a great jog today. Only went 1.5 miles. It was different running with it being warm today. I noticed that I got tired much quicker today. I am also thinking it could be because of the extreme body pump class yesterday. My legs are just worn out. Anyways I got through it and that is what matters! My new motto is one day at a time... I tend to have a problem thinking ahead and not concentrating on what I need to do today.

Exercise daily Blog - Day 6 and 7

Well I am falling behind in my daily blogging. It is hard to try and find the time to blog every day with 2 kiddos. Either way I am still staying on top of my exercising which was the point of this whole thing. Yesterday was my off day and that was a nice break. Went right back to it this morning with body pump. The class seemed harder today because I knew what was coming. I still think the lunge track stinks :) I am also not a big fan of the music this time around. The only song I really like is the one on the back track. I am hoping to get to go to body jam tomorrow afternoon. We shall see if I can work that out with my schedule or not. It is at a bad time for me because of getting dinner started, feeding the boys and all. Here's to hoping! Thanks for reading.

Exercise daily Blog - Day 4 and 5

Well I skipped out on my blog entry yesterday but I did not skip the workout. Yesterday and today were both gym days. I attended body pump and had a blast as usual. Today was the launch for the new edition and it is a very challenging one. The triceps and lunge tracks are killer! The triceps track ends with dips which suck.LOL The lunge track is just plain hardcore. It has lot of squats and bottom half squats which really burn. It is nice to get lost in the music and have the other calssmates there to pull you along. Are there any other body pump junkies out there?

Daily Exercise - Day 3

Had another nice run today! I went 1.5 miles plus one song. I have no idea how much further I went. I just ran til the song ended :) It sure makes a difference to run with good music! I spent some time the other night trying to find some more great running tunes. I was able to find a few but still need some more. Any suggestions?

Exercise daily Blog - Day 2

We hit the gym this morning and did bodypump! It is a 1 hour weight workout with some cardio. I just LOVe that class! It was awesome as usual and I am feeling good but kinda sore. The soreness is proibably form my run yesterday... or at least that is what I am thinking. We also stopped by the park on the way back home so the kiddos could run around and get some energy out. So all in all we had a good and productive day number 2 :)

My Exercise Daily Blog - Day 1

DAY 1 - jogged 1.8 miles

So for those of you that know you may know that I had a bad medical episode a little over a year ago. This is going to be a blog of my daily exercise routine and help to keep me focused on my goal to get back in to shape and beat the odds!! :) Wish me luck, much strength to work through the pain and will power to keep going.

My Back Story
I had a severe blood clot (DVT) after my second son and 2 pulmonary embolisms as a result of the clot. Well after the 2-1/2 weeks in ICU and 3 surgeries to try and dissolve the clot. I am blessed to be here to even have a blog :). I still have a chronic clot in my left illiac and my leg still swells as a result. I have to wear a compression stocking daily and take coumadin (blood thinner).
So here is a bit of a back story of my physical progress. After my release from the hospital I was in a wheelchair for about 2 months because of the swelling in my leg and the pain caused from lack of blood flow. At this time my leg was 2 times bigger (6-8 inches around) than my other leg. After that I was able to move onto a walker and endure the pain for a while eventually I moved onto my own 2 feet again! Now that does not mean that the pain has gone away... I have just gotten used to it. I have been going to the gym for about 6 or 7 months now to try and get my body back into shape and regain more circulation in my leg. It has been hard and painful but well worth it. When I first started I could only do a few of the intense leg workouts (lunges and squats). I am now at the point where I can complete the 1 hour weight class.I have also started to jog again. This is something that my Doctors said was probably not going to happen. I am so thankful and overjoyed that I have beat the odds and I am able to jog. That too has been very much of a challenge for me. My leg literally feels like it is on FIRE and cramps up. The lack of circulation is very uncomfortable to say the least. I have now been able to make my way up to jogging 1-1/2 miles :)!

My Daily Struggles
1. Wearing compression stocking - This stocking is so not comfortable. It goes thigh high and is constantly slipping down and needing readjustment.
2. Daily pain - I still deal with pain daily from lack of circulation. It has became much better and is now tolerable! I am so very blessed!!
3. Mental battle - Constantly reminding myself to push on and not to give in to the pain. The pain is a daily reminder to me of how very blessed I am to be here to feel it. It helps motivate me.

So this is my blog to keep me accountable and on track of my goals. Please feel free to leave comments or ask any questions that you may have. I am very adament about spreading my story and helping educate others about blood clots. There are so many women out there that do not have a clue just how life threatening they can be. I was one of those before this became real life for me.
